Moderate Democrats Must Reject Extreme Abortion Amendment Undermining Virginia Values
These everyday Virginians – from bustling urban centers to quiet mountain towns, across faiths and backgrounds – affirm that every life deserves dignity. Their message: the unborn need a voice, not a death sentence disguised as ‘reproductive freedom.’ The amendment’s vague exceptions for ‘health’ in the third trimester open doors to abortions up to birth, echoing the troubling 2019 Tran bill and Northam era extremism.
Democratic leadership’s agenda is alarming: killing the Born Alive Infant Protection Act (HB 531) on party lines, while fast-tracking assisted suicide (SB 359). This devalues the vulnerable – infants, elderly, disabled – treating them as expendable. Even as a Democrat concerned by leftist radicals hijacking our party, I see this as a betrayal of working families who seek balanced policies, not infanticide.
Spanberger’s backing makes Virginia’s push the most radical in the South, misleading ballot language notwithstanding (SB 449). Pro-lifers aren’t extremists; they’re parents, nurses (one with 30 years experience affirming care access), and citizens countering Planned Parenthood’s expansion. Gov. Youngkin’s pro-life stance reminds us moderation once prevailed.
History warns: 2019 scandals exposed Dem extremes; now, with control, they entrench them constitutionally. Moderate Dems, reject this! Support mothers through adoption, healthcare – not abortion mills. These liberal policies erode family values, concern even traditional Democrats.
